Fair Trade Coffee is an idea sought after by several conscientious business people who grew into a movement and later matured into an organizational structure with rules and regulations. The Fair Trade Organization is intended to empower farmers and farm workers in the coffee growing countries to lift themselves out of poverty. By increasing revenue from their coffee crop, they need to learn investing in their farms and communities, protecting the environment, and developing the business skills which are necessary to compete in the global economy. In addition to fair price to farmers, the fair trade principles include fair labor conditions, direct trade relationship, community development, environmental sustainability and finally, democratic and transparent organizations.
