What is the difference between Arabica and Robusta coffees?

The Arabica coffee plant is grown at altitudes in excess of 2800 feet above sea level. Arabica coffee beans are generally greenish with a round back and a flat surface. Arabica coffee is generally mild with more flavor and aroma than Robusta coffee. Robusta is characterized by small and round beans. Robusta coffee has a stronger taste than Arabica coffee, but lacks the fine aroma and flavor that characterizes Arabica coffee. Another difference between the two types of coffee is that Robust coffee has a higher caffeine content than Arabica coffee. Robusta coffee is used mainly in mass produced commercial coffees.
